Shen-Paco Industries, Inc. offers a Developmental Day Support Program to individuals who need additional assistance in developing independence in the activities of daily living. The target population for the program will be those individuals with developmental disabilities who fall within the severe to profound range of Intellectual Disability. The following are areas in which a program participant may pursue independence:

* Socio-Emotional Development
* Cognitive/Educational Development
* Environmental Skills
* Sensory Motor Development
Shen-Paco Industries, Inc. provides community engagement
services to the individuals they serve which support and foster individuals’
abilities to acquire, retain, or improve skills necessary to build positive
social behavior, interpersonal competence, greater independence, employability,
and personal choices necessary to access typical activities and functions of
community life such as those chosen by the general population. These activities may include community
education or training and volunteer activities.
Shen-Paco Industries, Inc. provides a wide variety of opportunities
to the individuals they serve through the Community Engagement service by
facilitating and building relationships and natural supports in the community,
while utilizing the community as a learning environment. Shen-Paco Industries encourages
activities that are conducted at naturally occurring times and in a variety of
natural settings in which the individual actively interacts with persons
without disabilities, other than those paid to support the individual. Activities will be focused to enhance the individual’s
involvement with the community and facilitate the development of natural
supports. All services are provided
in the least restrictive environment and within the most integrated settings
possible according to each individual’s Plan for Supports and individual
choice. Community Engagement is a tiered
service for reimbursement purposes.
Shen-Paco Industries, Inc. provides community coaching
to the individuals they serve who require one on one support in a variety of
community settings in order to build specific skills that address specific
barriers preventing an individual from participating in activities of community
engagement. The service will also
include safety supports in addition to the skill building.
Shen-Paco Industries ensures the goal of each activity is
to facilitate and build relationships and natural supports in the community
while utilizing the community as a learning environment. Shen-Paco Industries provides the service
to individuals who require 1:1 support to address identified barriers in their
Plan of Supports that prevent them from participating in community engagement.
Individuals who participate in community coaching have
a Plan of Supports. The Plan of Supports
should include community coaching activities that are sensitive to the
individual’s age, abilities, and personal preferences. Activities within the plan to be utilized
will include one-on-one skill building and coaching to facilitate participation
in community activities and opportunities such as, but not limited to; (1) activities
and public events in the community, (2) community education, activities, and
events and; (3) assisting individuals with using and obtaining transportation
services. Skill building activities will
also focus on support in positive behavior, relationship building and social
skills. Support will also be given with self management skills, eating and
personal care needs in the community.
The services are measured in units of 1 hour. Community coaching, alone or combination with
community engagement, group day, workplace assistance services, or supported
employment services shall not exceed 66 hours per week.
Supported Employment Services through Shen-Paco Industries, Inc. may include Individual Competitive Placement and enclaves. All supported employment services provide competitive work in an integrated setting with on-going support services for Individuals with disabilities.
Individualized Competitive Placement consists of:
SPI's employment specialists will development integrated competitive job sites for the individual.
Job Placement and Training
Job site support will be given by the employment specialist. Initial support will be intensive and may last the employees entire workday as necessary. As training and production progress, the Employment Specialist will slowly fade from the job site and follow along will be provided.
Follow Along Services
Follow Along services will be provided by the Employment Specialist as long as the individual and employer feel it is necessary. It can be terminated when all parties agree that it is no longer needed.
Shen-Paco Industries, Inc. provides residential services to individuals with intellectual disabilities, ensuring a safe and comfortable home environment focusing on education and community exposure. Every individual is provided with the utmost quality of care and their human rights are respected at all times. Within this residential setting, the individuals are involved in learning and developing daily living skills which are tied into their Person Centered Plan as goals, and practiced on either a daily, weekly or monthly basis. The residents also go on outings in the community on a frequent basis for educational experiences and community exposure.
How to make a referral?
An individual is referred to Shen-Paco either through the local Community Services Board, Department of Social Services, Department of Rehabilitative Services, Department of Blind and Visually Impaired, School System, Veteran Affairs, or other agencies.
What happens after the referral?
Every individual that enters Shen-Paco's program must have some type of funding source. Once a referral is made, the individual needs to be assessed as to what type of funding the individual has at that particular time. If the individual has ID Waiver or DD Waiver, the individual can enter the program once the assessment and paperwork have been filled out and processed.
